Daniela Heerdt
A PhD candidate in the business and human rights research field, Daniela has experience in conducting research and teaching business and human rights, with particular expertise in the human rights impacts of mega-sporting events.
Current work
As Research Officer, Daniela supports the Centre for Sport and Human Rights in the field of access to remedy in the sport and human rights context, by contributing to the strategic and activity planning of the Centre’s role on remedy and conducting research, outreach and drafting reports.
Previous experience
Since 2016, Daniela has been working on her PhD dissertation, which deals with the establishment of responsibility for human rights abuses that occur in the context of hosting mega-sporting events in 2016. She also chairs the Business and Human Rights Working Group of the Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research.
After graduating from her LL.M. in public international law and human rights law she worked as a researcher for Tilburg Law School, where she was involved in a book project and taught business and human rights classes in Zimbabwe and South Africa. She continued as a teacher at Utrecht University before she was accepted for the PhD position at Tilburg Law School.
