David is a lawyer with expertise in environmental, social and governance matters, with a particular interest in human rights and access to effective remedy.

David has advised the Centre since 2017 as a lawyer with Clifford Chance, including on the Centre’s initial incorporation as a UK Charity, and its phased separation from its parent Charity IHRB. David's experience includes working closely with financial institutions and regulators as well as with environmental and sports organisations.

Current work

David is a Member of the Global ESG Board and Associate in the Litigation and Disputes Resolution practice at Clifford Chance, presently on secondment to the Centre as a Legal and Governance Advisor. In this role David is supporting the Centre across a range of governance, risk and compliance matters, especially related to the establishment of the Centre as an association in Switzerland. During his secondment David is also working on elements of the Centre’s corporate structure, code of conduct, policy development and providing advice to ensure the Centre and its directors are not exposed to legal and regulatory risks. He is also supporting the Centre’s work on access to remedy.

Previous experience

David joined Clifford Chance in 2016 as a trainee solicitor, qualifying into the Assets and Projects Financing Team he acted for global financial institutions in the development of national infrastructure and related financial arrangements including major renewable energy projects in Africa and Asia. David has since joined the Litigation and Disputes Resolution practice at Clifford Chance. His experience includes advising the Centre, Invictus Games Foundation and the Lifescape Project on governance and environmental risks, working closely with regulators such as the Charity Commission and the FCA and advising major financial institutions.
